This probably depends upon when the deleter gets around to deleting the result out of the DB. If the canonical result is no longer in the DB, then there will be no credit granted. Otherwise, there is some chance that credit will be granted.
Read the Manual.

well crap ;) and i went off and reset it...
i couldn't find the folder with the WUs in it, but i don't think that i made a backup before resetting either.
well, now i know better. since 200 went over, that could have been another 300-1000 credit....*sigh*

thanks!

Hi karthwyne.
I don't see this happen very often, if at all.
Almost always i see results like this one from you:

http://pirates.vassar.edu/result.php?resultid=222788

Late, but still valid and credit granted.

the ones that i sent in after the deadline passed did not get any credit. since i still had about 200 at 15minutes each, i reset on that system. i even tested that because i didn't want to lose all that data, but also didn't want to crunch away for another day for no reason...

o well

it was a nice gift!

No, that is correct. We are running with the quorum set to 1, so the first one back sets the canonical result and canonical credit. Any other valid WU that returns home after that gets the canonical credit too.

With the quorum set to 2 then credit is pending until two WU's agree and set the canonical credit. Any folowing valid WU gets the canonical credit already determined by the first two.

So far, I've been getting whatever the other person was awarded. This may be a bug, but that's the way it's working right now.

I was able to get 100 wu manually, connecting to the server every 15 seconds , but i dont got work every time just once in a minute ; the bad thing is that in the next day i lost 71 wu because a crash :((((((

Well ,i can report that most of the wu's had a name starting with "wu......" but i also got some that got a name starting with "compass...". Why ?

I want more work :) , not only from sextant but also from all other applications .
There is another thing , that non windows systems aren't getting any work (or maybe to little) its important to call people that use linux , mac or even solaris
(i know that pirate@home don't have any solaris application).

And finishing i still have some peding credits from Xmas when are they cleaned/deleted ?

That shouldn't be the case, but this will be a good test. If the WU was issued before a canonical result is found then when it returns it should get the canonical credit, if that has been determined in the interval. We'll see how it goes. Always a test on the Pirates ship...

Yeah, my old PIII/400 was the one that got most of the WUs I received (Over 150), all of my P4s combined got a total of about 20.

And i've noticed that the scheduler is re-issuing them 'cause I missed the deadline. So when I finally do return the WU, I get whatever the other matie claimed, if they got back first.

A message on the Seti message boards said that Pirates was giving out work and so the users came here and got on board. Thats what caused the increased interest.

Not really an error, but not the expected behaviour. We usually use a script which lets out a little work at a time, so that when anybody connects they get a few WU's but not a lot. This was a test of the make_work program from BOINC, which is supposed to keep the outgoing queue full. It did. It is supposed to have a "cushion" and only add work when below that cushion, but for short Pirates WU's this didn't seem to work very well.

It certainly became such a test, though not our first.

No, the previous method should have also taken care of that.

If you like. :-)

I received 301 wu's on the 30th. Ironically, out of my 3 hosts, the 2 that have Celeron processors received these wu's. I do that you can still receive credit even if you are past the deadline, but I don't know how long after.

I've plundered the wu bounty, and it is good!

I wonder if this sudden flood of workunits was...

- Some kind of an error that occured with the workunits creator?

- A test to see how the servers reacted with higher stress loads? (more users connecting, more workunits and results going up and down simultaneously...)

- An attempt to solve the problem of the many zero credited folks not appearing in the stats by spreading out plenty of workunits for everyone?

- A late Xmas gift? :)

In the Applications section we can see that almost all apps were updated recently, but the there's only one listed for mac os x, the hello BOINC world, and it was last november.
Funny that with all the updates there were no Roger or hello workunits released, only sextant. Or at least I didn't catch any...

Aye mate.
Also notice Project Summary shows large increase of users.
Might be Mac crowd. Capt. Jack may supply them soon.
Might be a few curious Einsteins that climbed aboard recently...

@ NeoGen; yes. The madness continues!

I only just now recieved 60 of these WU at home. Looking at my account, it looks like my laptop sitting at work didn't manage to grab any?

Contact, are these WU the reason you made the comment in this thread?

Yikes!
What just happened?
An old laptop sitting in the basement just downloaded more WU than i can count before i could recover from shock and disable network access.
What a blast! I see some others are in this boat.
