I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but lately sometimes IE only loads a web page to a point, leaving the lower parts of the page in cyberspace. This may have something to do with webserving side of things because i haven't found it anywhere else. Usually refreshing the page loads the rest of the page.
Just thought i'd point that out to someone.

I would re-do the css completely, but I'll probably just get the old one from a backup instead. I don't like any of the new ones.

Now fixed.

Ditto. Result 300516's stderr has the same max-cpu error exit status (-185) as the above result, and some additional text. CC 4.19

On the contrary, whey, I now have an ID. :)
No work though, but that's just patience. :D
Thanks Eric.
Although... the Database error for preferences is still around.

The database problems have been tracked down and repaired. It was actually something interesting and maybe useful for future upgrades.
The new scheduler is now in place. Hopefully it will work now. Please report if that's not the case.
This should also fix the problems reported about not being able to update host entry in DB. Please report if that's not the case.

I still run into the same problem upon re-attaching though.
Pirates@Home - 2005-03-02 15:29:31 - Sending request to scheduler: http://pirates.vassar.edu/cgi-bin/scheduler
Pirates@Home - 2005-03-02 15:29:34 - Scheduler RPC to http://pirates.vassar.edu/cgi-bin/scheduler succeeded
Pirates@Home - 2005-03-02 15:29:34 - Message from server: Couldn't create host record in database
Pirates@Home - 2005-03-02 15:29:34 - No work from project
Pirates@Home - 2005-03-02 15:29:34 - Deferring communication with project for 1 minutes and 0 seconds
--- - 2005-03-02 15:30:35 - Insufficient work; requesting more
Pirates@Home - 2005-03-02 15:30:35 - Requesting 2875 seconds of work
I can leave it running for now, but in the end it'll just repeat itself, without giving me a new host ID. Tried this in BOINC CC4.19 and 4.24, both time out.

Latest update. I've just posted a note to boinc_dev about the problems we've encountered during/after the upgrade. The most serious are that the scheduler and transitioner seem to be failing.
Overnight it appears that lots of work timed out and was to be resent, but with nobody able to connect to the scheduler it piled up. I put the old scheduler in place and whoosh, the work went out.
The transitioner gets restarted and sometimes runs, but fails.
I think these and some of the other problems can be traced to the database. As a part of the upgrade procedure we run a script which makes changes/additions to the database. I did so, but the changes did not "take". So the next thing to try is to do the changes by hand.
I've fixed the probelem with logging in to the web pages or creating an account. There was some work in progress to clean up user input from web pages but it apparantly wan't ready when the code was CVS tagged.
The page listing all the project applications is one of the first to be updated to the new system for handling translations to other languages, but it seems to need some initialization. I'm hoping for some help there from the designer(s) fo that system. It's good for us to test it and it's no as vital as the scheduler or validator.
I'll post again when the DB changes are in place. Thanks for the reports from the field, you're helping make BOINC better.

i've got something as well.
i've been watching the server status page and there have been 2 and then 3 WUs to be sent for the last 10 minutes (i've seen 4 updates on the page) but simply get a "No Work from Project" error. so either it is not sending, or it is not giving the correct error (there was work but for other platforms).
i don't know enough about the workings to see what kind of WUs they are waiting to be sent, nor what platform.
i know this isn't critical, just another on the list (low priority).
i hope the cleanup is coming well, Eric.

It may have broken something serverside as well. I am getting the following message:
Pirates@Home - 2005-03-02 00:07:48 - Message from server: Couldn't create host record in database
Same as there's still the database error when trying to add preferences to the P@H preferences.

I changed from white.css to style.css because they changed white.css to be too white. :-)
> Applications link on front page is broken.
Yes, this seems to be the test page for the new language/localization code, which does not seem to work. :-(

thanks for the update! sorry to hear things didn't go perfectly, but thankfully you are not having the level of problems as SETI.
good luck with getting it all sorted out - we of course will be here!
and if we can help, you know where to find us.
(sorry it isn't as eloquent as Byron's messages, but i try ;)
