Thank you cap'n for the ride, I've loved every minute... thank you too on behalf of X: Beyond the Frontier team... only regret was that we couldn't retake 3rd from SETI Germany, grins!

Good luck to the Cap'n and all the Pirates crunchers for the future, I will no doubt, see you in other projects!

Arrr, 'tis a sad day indeed. I'm thrilled that that made me one of the last UOTD's of the project yesterday, but still, I'm going to miss the crew. I always dropped whatever crunching I was doing when I saw there were Pirate dubloons to be had. Could never resist.

Was an honour sailin' with ye, Cap'n.

It's been a great ride - I know some was hoping somehow this ship would be kept afloat, but as it's destined to go down, the crew will keep the memory of it alive

Nah...that cannot be true!
Alas...

If there's crew needed for a brand new boat (or an old one) anywhere in the future (or past ;-) ) don't forget about me.

We from BOINC@Heidelberg will also miss this project much.
We had a lot of fun crunching for pirates, thank you.

It's been a long strange trip, but fun none the less. I was really looking forward to this ship going down running the Russian Roulette you had mentioned long ago, but alas, I'm afraid that we ran out of time before that application was completed.

Any plans on forming Pirates@Home teams on all the other projects? Or just the three that you currently have?

Will the source code and examples of the pirates apps be kept online for devs to study from and apply on future boinc projects (maybe)?

Well, this is certainly a first. I'll need to make some changes to my site, something like 'Closed projects'.

The stats will (offcourse) continue to be available for those who want to look back from time to time, and the Pirates credits will also still be a part of the totals!

Thanks for the good time!

I will try a little trick that should keep the stats up after things close down, but if it doesn't work then I can make them available "by hand" after I get back from vacation.

I assume that this will be the end of it. It has been a great pleasure to participate over here so now we will continue seeing you all at the Einstein project.
Do we have to separate from project in the Boinc host or will the host separate us anyway sometime by himself??!!

Regards to all from sunny and summer warm Spain in the Mediterranean coast.

I hope you'll keep the database backup somewhere and especially the user emails, just dig them in on some lonesome island and don't forget to keep the map somewhere.

When there's a rich galleon beeing spottet, just call us, we'll be your mates again :-)

Will it be forever, or will it maybe be restarted at one point in the future when E@H needs a new screensaver?

In either case, thanks for the opportunity to test things, Eric. It was fun. :)

Even knowing that the life time of the pirates@home is limited,
it's sad to read the "bad news".

This project is just one of the most lovely ones, boinc ever offered.

The communication between Captn with his fellow and the pirates sailing outside, whereever they are,

have been friendly, informative never behind a glasshouse.

Me to, learned a lot about boinc due this project and general application running of boinc, thankyou letting us
share all the knowledge.

Some of us have been members for 10 Month ore even more, that's a quit long timeframe.

It was a pleasure and a honnor to be a modest part of the crew.

At least for myself, this project has found a place in good remembering for "ever"

Thanks a lot for your superb operating the boat.

You have merit the role as the Captn!

A hearty "Arrrr!" back and also "bon voyage"!

kind regards

Nothing lasts forever... and we all knew this moment was coming soon. :(

Nonetheless we had a great trip! Our captain took us sailing through the seven seas and even more. The memories will stay with us forever, as will it be written in history about a Pirates project that, more than any other, helped make boinc what it is today! :)

But before this project ends up in Davey Jones' locker, let's hope the Captn' found his gold.

Ahhhh.
Sweats of withdrawal already!
My understanding of BOINC has increased dramatically because of running this project.
Thanks Capt. for that and the amazing ride.
Pirates will be fondly remembered by many.

When the question has come up before, I always said that Pirates@Home would stay up until late June. Well, it's now getting to be late June, and it's time to shut 'er down.

The Pirates@Home project and web site will shut down sometime in the late morning (EST) on Friday, June 24th, 2005.

We will continue to run both Sextant and Starboard, as able, until the shutdown. I hope to have one more round of Sextant for testing.

If there is time, there may also be one more round of Starboard. I've been working on porting xscreensaver GL 'hacks' of progressive complexity, and the next one has what I hope is only a small problem before it is ready. But maybe not...

I have to say that I think this little project has been quite a success, both for testing screensaver graphics for Eistein@Home (the original intent) and for testing BOINC in general. And I have to give credit for that to the Gentlemen and Ladies of the crew. Even if you just ran a workunit and it ended with an error and you got no credit at all, the feedback you and your machine provided helped contribute. And of course there have been many willing to contribute more than that, such as feedback in the forums, as well as the translations of the screensaver description. Thank you all for all your contributions.

A hearty "Arrrr!" to all the Pirates crew, and bon voyage!
